Horner to Bossington Walk led by Woody: words and photos from Ian Hart
Undeterred by the Weather forecasts, predicting a pretty foul day, 16 of us met at Horner Wood this morning for a 9 mile walk. Setting out along the Coleridge Way we soon reached Porlock and thence to Porlock Marsh. Paid our respects to the American crew who perished in 1942 when their Liberator crashed and headed on via Bossington Beach to Bossington. Lunch was taken on the Eastern flank of Bossinton Hill – where a slight drizzle was enjoyed while the views were ‘atmospheric’ – before heading back to Horner via West Luccombe. A terrific, varied walk, marvellously led by Woody was enjoyed by all. Moral ~ even though the Weatherman cries ‘Foul’ huge pleasure still can be derived from walking Somerset’s footpaths!
