25 of us enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock, which provided traditional comfortable accommodation and friendly service in a historical setting. Those who enjoy a challenge completed two 12-mile walks taking in various tors around Merrivale – Cox, Inga, Mis, Kings, to name a few. Weather was kind (though chilly) so we had superb views. For those who prefer a shorter walk there were bluebells around the reservoir and a few tors. Tiny lambs and fluffy foals everywhere, denoting spring, despite the chilly breeze. Tavistock is a perfect base, close to the moor and with plenty to do within the town, exploring its history and canal and riverside walks.
