A sunny spring day brought out 11 walkers for a nine mile walk from Horner through the Holnicote Estate, passing through fields with new born lambs. Over to Bossington where we climbed up the steep rugged coast path looking down at the blue sea. A slight haze obscured the full views but didn’t spoil the view from the old coast house over Porlock marsh where we discussed the history of the land. A steady climb on up to Selworthy Beacon into the cold stiff breeze. Lunch spot bought us some shelter at the Ackland Memorial Hut. Our walk entailed a steady descent, over to the Iron Age settlement, Bury Castle and on through woods and ancient sunken lanes returning to Horner in time to pick up an ice cream from Horner farm. Lovely to see familiar faces and meet new or recent members.
