Elan Valley by Cherry Bird
The sun shone for the 26 members who joined the club weekend arranged October 7-10 at the Elan Valley Lodge. What a great time we had – two walks of different levels of difficulty were available each day, led by local guides, who were wonderful company and very well informed. Steve, as a retired engineer knew all about the construction of the dams and Chudor, a local shepherd, entertained us with a range of “tall tales of country folk”. The scenery of course was stunning – with the extensive expanses of water, fine hill views and lovely woodland. Food at the lodge was superb – good, honest and wholesome, served in a convivial and informal atmosphere. Highly recommended and worth the long drive up there!
